At U.S. Term Limits, our goal is to promote citizen legislatures that reflect the society by opening up seats in elected positions regularly with term limits. Increasing citizen participation in their own government is necessary for good governance.
What are the benefits of term limits?
Term limits increase transparency, educate the electorate through more meaningful participation, provide a sense of urgency as deadlines are set for completion of goals, brings about diversity of experience and encourages grooming of replacement candidates many of whom already have experience in similar positions. This helps eliminate stagnation, revitalizes the body with new perspectives, reduces corruption, and keeps government closer to the people.
