People in Illinois are so fed up with the state government, they are leaving in droves. According to a 2018 Illinois Issues Survey from the Center for State Policy and Leadership in Illinois, 53% of those surveyed considered relocating elsewhere. The number one reason: government dysfunction.
One citizen, Jim Coxworth, is mad as hell and has decided to do something about it. He believes term limits are a necessary reform and is taking action to draw attention to the issue.
“I’ve grown tired and angry at how our state government is being destroyed by our corrupt self serving politicians who have brought this state to the brink of financial ruin,” says Coxworth who launched Illinois Citizen Uprising earlier this year.
On Thursday, October 11, Jim Coxworth will start walking from Chicago to Springfield to bring attention to the need for 8-year term limits on the Illinois state legislature. Please show him your support by meeting with him along Route 66.
Coxworth believes the average citizen feels the game is rigged in favor of the Illinois politicians. Instead of the system working for the voters, it just works for the entrenched incumbents.
Reportedly, 60-65% of the elections in Illinois are unopposed and not even being held. Term limits will bring competitive, real elections, inject new blood into the system and give the citizens of Illinois a fighting chance to reverse the problems caused by career politicians.
80% of Illinoisans want term limits yet term limits never make it on the ballot. This should make you mad as hell. Will you follow Jim’s one man march either in person or on social media?
Jim is a featured guest on our podcast, “No Uncertain Terms,” published on Monday, October 8th.
