State Senator Kelly Townsend Tapped As Arizona State Chair for U.S. Term Limits
Phoenix, AZ – Today, U.S. Term Limits announces that State Senator Kelly Townsend has agreed to be the Arizona State Chair for U.S. Term Limits. Senator Townsend brings a depth of public service to this role. She has seen first-hand the need for term limits at the federal level and will work tirelessly in her role as Arizona State Chair to see that Arizona adopts a resolution for term limits.
“I am very honored to be serving as the Arizona State Chair for U.S. Term Limits,” said State Senator Kelly Townsend. “Now more than ever before, the need for term limits is crystal clear. Polls show that the one issue Americans regardless of political affiliation are united about is the need for congressional term limits.
“Serving in Congress has become for many, a lucrative lifelong job rather than a public service,” concluded Senator Townsend. “Term limits will help end career politicians and make Congress work better for all Americans.”
“We are honored to have Kelly leading our efforts in Arizona to pass term limits on Congress,” said Philip Blumel, President of U.S. Term Limits. “She is a strong leader who understands the problems within Congress and the need for term limits. Under her guidance, I am confident we will get our term limits resolution passed in Arizona.”
A mother, veteran, small business owner, and certified Doula and Doula Trainer, Kelly’s roots in Arizona run deep, going all the way back to the heyday of Tombstone, where her Great Great Grandfather George Buford was a successful silver miner.
Kelly grew up in Oregon and then volunteered for the U.S. Navy, where she served as an Aviation Structural Mechanic on F-14s and F/A-18 aircraft. After her Navy service, Kelly launched a career in Corporate Management, then shifted to health care as a Birth Doula, guiding expectant mothers through the adventure of birth and post-partum adjustment, and established her own small business.
In 2004 Kelly returned her family to Arizona to raise her children and finish her degree. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Communications, and her Master’s Degree in Infant & Family Practice at Arizona State University.
She has been a member of the Arizona Senate representing District 16 since 2021 and previously was a member of the Arizona House of Representatives from 2013 to 2021, acting as Majority Whip from 2017 to 2018.
Kelly is an accomplished author with books published in the USA, Croatia, and Slovenia. She is well traveled internationally, with a deep interest in other cultures and customs, languages, and of course, International and State government. She is a fierce defender of the Constitution and is a national leader in the Article V movement.
