President Ronald Reagan’s Foresightedness

by Rense Johnson, Chairman, Citizens for Term Limits

Now that the North Koran madman is rumored to be readying a inter-continental ballistic missile which could be aimed at our northwestern coast, it is useful to remember President Ronald Reagan’s foresightedness in putting forth his Strategic Defense Initiative, which Teddy “The Swimmer” Kennedy promptly and sneeringly dubbed “Star Wars.”

As more modern technology has evolved, Reagan’s SDI has gone through many changes since he left office — likely much slower than he would have liked, and in retrospect, slower than national security should have dictated.

In view of the fact that our world is becoming more dangerous with each passing day, we are fortunate that America has the beginnings of an anti-ballistic missile defense, even though it is still in the developmental stage, and only a beginning.

Lesson: A good litmus test for what is best for our country — find out where Kennedy stands and do just the opposite.
