President Bush? Lame Duck Status?

by Rense Johnson, Chairman, Citizens for Term Limits

What do John Bolton, Tom Delay, Social Security reform, and the judicial advise and consent issue have in common?

They are all subjects which the Democrats in Congress see as opportunities to marginalize President Bush.

They are all examples of the Democratic Party’s reckless efforts to turn George W. Bush into a lame duck president. Damn the good of the country, full speed ahead.

President Bush has a plan to spend his political capital on his ambitious second term agenda, to accomplish goals he was unable to achieve in his first term.

But the sooner he is reduced to a lame duck status, the better for the Democrats and the likes of John Kerry and Hillary Clinton.

How great for the Democrats if George W. Bush could be made to seem irrelevant for the remainder of his second term.

Should Democrats be able to kill the Bolton nomination as Ambassador to the United Nations, or neutralize Tom Delay by making him seem dishonest, or sidetrack Social Security reform, or prevent implementation of the Republicans’ Constitutional Option, then they hope the effect may be to make Dubya into a
hapless lame duck president.

And weak-kneed Republicans? the RINOs? Republicans In Name Only? seem to be helping the ambitious Dems every step of the way.

The Gutless Gang of Seven.

Democrats seem to be winning on every front, don’t they?
