Four Dollar Gasoline? It's Made In The USA.

The TV All Star Self-Promoting Horn Blowers in Congress are up to their old tricks before the cameras, as they chastise the oil companies for making a profit. One wonders how many actually believe the venom spewing from their lips. Democrat Maxine Waters wants to nationalize the oil industry. (When has the government ever run anything better than private industry?)

Nothing was said by those same television virtuosos about the abysmal record of Congresses past and present in closing off most of the U. S. to drilling. When have these people ever put the national interest ahead of their own political ambitions?

We know that our own government — presidents past and present — and Congress, have led us down the road to energy suicide Click here to read “Our nation’s leaders are taking us down the road to energy suicide”

Then in our article titled “Omnibus Spending Bill Forbids Domestic Oil Shale Development” was signed by President George W. Bush! Click here to read the article. Who is advising this guy???

But wouldn’t it also be interesting to learn the voting records of these Congressional Star Performers each and every time the subject of oil and gas drilling has come up, not just in ANWR, although ANWR exploration is also of critical importance but . . .

Also of vital importance are the offshore areas adjoining the U. S., and the millions of acres within the lower 48, rendered difficult or impossible to develop by past Congresses and our congressionally-created Bureaucrats, and where we find the current Congress sitting on its collective hands as members bellow at the oil companies for the TV cameras.

The byproducts of Four Dollar gasoline illustrate the law of unintended consequences comes into play. Airlines (not all but most) will be sticking passengers extra per bag luggage charges, while shipping charges by UPS and FedEx will of necessity be increased.

And if you will look at the chart at the top of this website, you will see that aggravating the energy problems we face, our fiat dollar (only of value because our government says it is) has recently been declining in value at the rate of six percent per year, making the cost of gasoline correspondingly more expensive.

But the story of Four Dollar Gasoline goes back even farther in our history to the saga of Hill Bonin, Atypical, told in the article titled “Our Nation’s Peril.” This article explains how Bonin and his opposite numbers in what was then the Seven Sisters were steering a course for energy freedom when the Jimmy Carter State Department sabotaged their effort. 2. Read Hubbert’s Peak before castigating those who would save what is left of the world’s oil reserves for something besides burning. The problem we need to address is getting something in place to SOLVE the alternative energy production that IS possible. The universe is made of energy, so there cannot be a shortage, but this oil shortage has been accurately predicted since 1956! It should not be a surprise.

America CAN be energy independent. We just need the political resolve to do it, and career politicians fed by the special interests have NO incentive to do this.

  3. Why is America the only country concerned about world oil reserves? Why are we dependent on foreign oil? There again, Congress passed an alternative energy bill, however, Clinton vetoed stating “We are at least 10 years away from needing that”. Why has the United States waited 50 years and Congress still has failed to act on an energy plan, but certainly didn’t fail to act when it came to raises or healthcare for themselve. We obviously need to do something and drilling strategicly now is not the long term solution but a stopgag until we have the alternative. Wind is used all over Europe. Why hasn’t the United States pursued this as an alternative? Ethanol has only forced food shortages worldwide. Grain is not the answer. Natural gas is touted to be cheaper, and in great abundance in the United States, so why is natural gas prices also skyrocketing? Linda Biesemeyer
